Hello there, I hope you’re having an awesome day. I got my hands on the Infinix Hot 8 Lite and I’ve been using it for a while now. Although it’s quite similar to my old Hot 7, it comes with its own tricks.

Hello there, I hope you’re having an awesome day. I got my hands on the Infinix Hot 8 Lite and I’ve been using it for a while now. Although it’s quite similar to my old Hot 7, it comes with its own tricks. This is the Review of the Infinix Hot 8 LITE
Infinix Hot 8 Lite
Well before we dive into the specs, it weighs 175g (or 6.17oz)
For the build, we have nothing at the top, the single bottom firing speaker, micro USB port, tiny microphone and the earphone jack at the bottom, the power button and volume rockers on the right, the sim tray for dual Nano sim and micro SD card on the left and on the back, a dual camera sensor, flash and the fingerprint scanner. The front is obviously where we have the screen.
Now the phone feel durably built even though it has a plastic back and plastic frame and glass front for the screen
Speaking of the screen, it’s an IPS LCD screen at 6.6 inches with 83.5% screen-to-body ratio
What this means is, it covers most part of the front as you can see here. It’s still a notch phone, and they call this the waterdrop display
Luckily, since the screen is much taller, it’s we get a 20:9 aspect ratio as compared to the regular 18:9 we get with most phones within this range. It obviously has bezels all run. And if you take a closer look, it seems they just covered certain parts of the screen with black to give it this look. The screen is actually big, but why not put a black cover panel on it so it gets the neat design.
And it’s advertised to have 450 nits brightness, but is it usable outdoors, why yeah, it is?
And oh, the resolution is also 720 x 1600px, so playing 720p videos should have no issues. 1080p on the other hand, you turn to see a bit of lagging in the video
So, it’s running on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition)
The other phone I review that was using this version also was the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core. It had 1 gigs of ram and it was very responsive, so I have high hopes for this.
The chipset in this one is the Mediatek MT6580 at 1.3GHz clock speed with 2GB of ram
With these specs, running any game at medium to high settings should run without any problem
Speaking of gaming, these new high-end games take quite a sizeable part of the phone’s storage. So the 32 gigs of internal storage that the OS is already taking a bite at it may not be enough. So getting an SD card to expand your storage is highly recommended.
So for the cameras, 8MP for both the front and the rear sensors and they both record, 1080p@30fps
Regardless of that, the rear camera has been tweaked a little at f1.8 to provide better overall low light quality and this new night mode feature that is included in the camera app.
The quad led flash as opposed to the single flash for the front, also make images brighter when shooting in a dark environment.
Quad for 4, so four separate lights on the back. This is an example comparing that to a dual led flash. Dual meaning 2.
For security, a rear-mounted Fingerprint scanner which is fast enough, once you don’t have dirt or liquid on your fingers. It doesn’t miss as often but when it does, it’s quite frustrating.
We also get a face unlock, but like I keep saying, I don’t trust them on Infinix and Techno phones.
Even though I’m better looking as compared to my kid brother, he’s always able to log into my phone using that feature
And finally, it has a 5000mAh battery, which is impressive. But then again, with this massive screen I got about 5-6 hours full on use of it. But if I’m not touching it as much, it can last till the next morning.
So here are the couple of things I like about this phone
The battery life.
What I don’t like
We’re back to 3G connection, I mean if we’re paying for internet services, we might as well get the fastest connection, right? Right?
Second thing is, the led up front, lights up when charging but it doesn’t when you get a notification. I had this feature on the Infinix Note 2 and 3 that I was using about 3 years ago, so I don’t get why they excluded it in a latest phone
The speakers are great, very loud but the placement isn’t very ideal. It’s very easy to cover it up when playing videos or games in landscape.
And a lot of people were complaining about the camera in third party apps like snapchat and Instagram, so I tried it out.
So the big question, should you buy this?
Well, for GHc 700, NO, don’t buy it. I’ll be doing a comparison with the Hot 7 soon so, stay tune for that pretty soon.
Shots to take
