Alright so Samsung has been launching the A series phones as a sort of low speced alternative for the high end S series.
Well, some of you may not know this but, along with the A series is the M series which is another affordable alternative to the A series.
First, as always the phone weighs 197 g (6.95 oz) and we’re still getting the plastic back and frame all over with the screen being the only glass on this phone
Speaking of the screen, it is 6.4 inches PLS TFT screen, which is quite similar to that of the Techno and Infinix Phones. It also has this hole punch cutout for the selfie camera
With 720 x 1560 px, you’ll have no problem watching or streaming 720p and some 1080p videos.
For the design, we have a single firing speaker and USB type C port at the bottom, the volume rockers and power bottom on the right, a dual nano-sim with micro SD card support on the left, the 3.5mm audio jack on the top and on the back, we have the cameras, LED flash and fingerprint scanner.
It is running on android 10 with the 2.0 version of Samsung’s One UI, awesome
We also get the Adreno 506 for the GPU and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 which is about 3 years old which I don’t mind. The Exynos counterpart turns to heat up, drain battery quicker and is less efficient
There are 2 versions of this phone though 32GB internal storage with 3GB of ram or 64GB internal storage with 4GB ram
With that said, if you’re interested in playing games with it, you should have no problems. For some reason, subway surfer couldn’t load up, I guess I probably didn’t install it correctly. But temple run was of no issues. I still had enough ram to run other apps
For security, we have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner we works very fast even with this processor.
It’s almost invisible at the back when you look at it directly. But it’s easy to find with the finger if you’re going for touch instead of sight
Now for everyone’s favourite part of a phone
We get a triple camera setup with a 13MP main wide lens, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor camera. Recording video is at 1080p, 30fps and this is how it sounds and looks like
On the front, we get a single 8MP front facing wide camera which take decent photos. With videos, still 1080@30fps and this is how it also looks like.
What I like
The battery size. Coming in a 5000mAh, it’s enough to get you through you day.
With fast charging at 15W, topping up on the battery shouldn’t take too long too
I admire the screen size also, tiny hands dude talking, but watching movies or playing games on a big screen is quite a huge deal
What I don’t like
I wished Samsung would use an AMOLED screen here too, but I get them too. To keep the price low, they had to sacrifice on that.
The speaker is better cos it’s shifted to the top but you can still cover it up sometimes. But I would prefer front facing speakers anytime, any day
