This is an all plastic phone with a glass screen, obviously, which weighs 196g (6.91 oz)
Design-wise, nothing much has changed from the previous camon phones. Just some slight increases in the overall shape and sizes
And you can tell, the camon 15 is one massive phone
With a 6.6 inches screen, using this one handed is definitely something I shouldn’t try
Up front is the earpiece speaker and a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera, which I’ll get to in a bit
The display is an IPS LCD screen, no 1080p here. 720 x 1600px just like the previous camon devices. And finally, 266 ppi density with a 20:9 aspect ratio
Although, it’s a 60Hz display, it still feels a lot snappier to use.
The back on the other hand is this beautiful gradient finish, the rear mounted fingerprint sensor, a quad camera setup and quad LED flash, which we’ll dive more into later on in this video
Up top holds no ports. The power button and volume rockers on the right. A single bottom speaker, micro USB port and headphone jack on the button and finally, the dual nano sim and micro SD card tray on the left
Techno includes a clear cover case in the box, if you want to add some protection. I’ll advice you do though, besides safety, the rear is a huge fingerprint magnet. The fact that, it covers up some of the bottom ports is cool, but I don’t like it. That’s an extra work for me, opening it up each to use the headphone jack or to charge the device
With 4G LTE connectivity, downloads speeds are as to be expected.
Running on Android 10, and Techno’s HiOS 6.0, a PowerVR GE8320 GPU and the Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22, 12nm chipset for the CPU. The same chipset as the older camon 12
With 4GB ram and 64GB internal storage which you can top up with a micro SD card in case you need more storage. And finally, a massive 5000mAh battery
Playing games of all types shouldn’t come with any problem, yet the phone turns to heat up a lot after some few gaming sessions.
With that mentioned, you can enter in Game Mode in the settings and disable certain apps from running in the background when gaming. Like I stated previously in the Techno Phantom 9 Review, this feature allows you to virtually add up any app you want. So, in case, you work intensively in any other apps, besides games, this feature may also be useful to you.
When playing Dead Trigger, I paused for a while and the game got stuck in an upside-down orientation. I don’t know if this was a bug in the game or on the phone. But I noticed it, so it’s worth mentioning.
The speaker is loud enough, but because of its placement, you are more likely to cover it up with you fingers.
Security-wise is a face unlock feature in addition to the fingerprint sensor on the back. And I’m still going to repeat myself, don’t use the face unlock feature. The fingerprint sensor works just fine. And it’s a lot quicker to set up and use on the daily. It misses once in a while though, but it’s so minimal that it’s negligible.
The rear cameras include a 48MP main camera with HDR support, 2MP ultrawide and 2MP depth and one more sensor with no announced specifications.
I spoke about this in the Infinix S5 review, where they also added an additional lens with no specifications; besides the 48MP main lens, the other lenses add no particular value to the image and video quality. They’re just added to this, so the phone could have more cameras on it.
Anyway, if you can get passed that, then this is among the nicest camera bumps I’ve seen in a while, along with this vertical design of the Quad LED flash.
The camera interface is still similar to what we’re used to, but I realized a Super Night Mode on this one.
Apparently, it helps take better low lights shots if you can keep it steady enough. It takes quite some time to compose a shot, but it seems worth it.
There’s also Bokeh mode for those blurry background photos that you may want.
Video recording is at 1080p, 30fps
For front facing photos and videos is the 16MP camera with a Dual LED flash
This also support High Dynamic Range or HDR and take good enough photos if your subject is bright enough. Still stuck with 1080p@30 frames per second for video recording
I love the Dark Theme inclusion on this phone too. Yet, for some reason, I couldn’t get it to work within the Facebook App. If you do find out, how though, please comment it below
I love the LED indicator at the top, right next to the earpiece which lights up when charging. But unfortunately, doesn’t when you get a notification.
I don’t like the fact that it only supports up to 720p resolution. So, with this phone, you can’t watch Netflix or YouTube in 1080p full HD
I never liked the Techno and Infinix skin on android, and till date, they haven’t improved it in anyway. More bloatware, more ads
You can also opt for the Camon 15 premier, but that’ll cost an additional GHc 400 which I don’t think is worth. What you’ll be losing are extra ram and storage and the pop up selfie camera. Funny enough, the battery is enough smaller at 4000mAh
