So this is how to record YouTube videos with just your smartphone and get something as high quality as this one. Anyway, let’s get started. Alright, so I’m recording simultaneously with the smartphone and my camera at the same time. So I’ll be switching between both of them at any point in time. But I feel there are a couple of things you have to do to understand first. I think there are basically just two things to consider, especially if you just want to use your smartphone. So the two things are lighting and audio. So if you get either of these two rights, then your videos are going to look as beautiful as ever. So I’ve broken this into three steps. We have the beginner, we have the intermediate, and we have the pro. So let’s start with the beginner.
If you are starting out just recording with your smartphone, then the first thing you need to consider is that I’m guessing you don’t have that much money or your budget is pretty low and you are just starting out. Let’s put it that way. So the first thing I would say you should consider is your lighting. And in doing so, I would recommend you shoot outside. The reason for that is that there’s sunlight everywhere, and it is free for everyone to use. You don’t have to purchase it. So here’s what it’s going to look like if you are to shoot an outdoor video with just your smartphone. All right? So this is a test of how it’s going to look like using something like a smartphone when it comes to shooting a video. So in this case right now, I don’t have any microphone connected. I’m just using the phone’s microphone and you can see it is making a lot of noise from the surroundings. There are some kids over there, making some noise that is always going to be picked up by the microphone, which is bad for you. So in case you move to a professional camera and a professional lens, it should look something like this. But if you don’t have that, then I think the smartphone should be just fine. Also, if you are shooting outdoors in bright sunlight. Make sure you are in some form of sheet. So let’s switch to a microphone and see what it’s like. Alright? So with this test, I have it hooked up to a cheap lapel microphone. I think I bought it for like $3. So that should be like Tetagana CDs for now. So if you should get something like this, hook it up on your sheet, it’s going to make your audio much better than using the onboard microphone from your smartphone. Again, what I was saying was if you are shooting in broad daylight, try to find some form of shade so that it can compensate a little bit and you wouldn’t have to screen so much, especially when the sun is directly on you. And if you can have the sun at your back to also do that. So basically that’s it. If you’re shooting for others, you can use your smartphone for that. Let’s get inside. One more thing I forgot to mention is if you don’t use the lapel mic, you can also get another smartphone and use that to record the audio. The smartphones coming out these days are very good or they have very good software manipulation when it comes to the audio recording. So you can record high crips audio with just another smartphone. I have been using my Samsung A Two S for a while now and the audio that comes out of it is super great. I can also say the exact same thing for the Samsung A Zero two Core. I don’t use iPhones that much so I can’t really say much about them but I’m pretty sure they are also good as well. So for an indoor shot, there are a couple of things to consider. If you are using light overhead lights, then I think you should turn everything on because you need as much light for your smartphone as possible. I’m currently using another light as my feeling light, giving me this nice look on my face. So if you are also interested in that, you can also purchase it. But I believe that one is more of the intermediate level so you get to that. Second. So if you don’t have anything like that, then you can get something like this. This is from Ulanzi and it can light up your subjects like so. Let me turn this off so that we can actually see what it looks like. So for something as small as this, this is how I’m going to look like.
If you have another tripod, you can just set it up and it is going to be lightening your face like so. I’ve also noticed that a couple of people have been using ring lights. Ring light, which I support a lot. The reason for that is that ring lights have this type of diffuser on them. So it makes your images much softer, limited like that. Rather than having hash light on my face like this, the ring light is going to make my face much softer. So something like that is also good to consider. So let’s move on to the intermediates. So if you’re an intermediate and you are considering audio, I would recommend you get something like this.
